Wells Fargo says it believes Mobileye (MBLY) shares are trading lower on Freescale's (FSL) announcement of a new vision processor with sensor fusion capabilities that can automate and co-pilot a vehicle. Wells notes Mobileye shares reacted similarly when Nvidia (NVDA) announced its new automotive-grade chip in early January. The firm believes non-traditional chip designers will have a difficult time entering the advanced driver assistance systems supply chain. It sees "significant" upside potential in shares of Mobileye and keeps an Outperform rating on the name. Shares of the ADAS software maker are down 7%, or $2.46, to $33.02 in afternoon trading. Wells points out that despite the announcements of competing products, Mobileye continues to win ADAS contracts.
