		YM BioSciences Inc. announced that preclinical results for CYT997 were presented Tuesday in a poster by Cytopia Limited at the 2009 AACR-NCI-EORTC Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics conference in Boston, Massachusetts. CYT997 is an orally available, small molecule vascular disrupting agent, or VDA, currently in Phase II clinical studies. The results reportedly demonstrate that when administered metronomically, in frequent, low doses, CYT997 is able to produce potent vascular disrupting effects in tumors in the colon adenocarcinoma xenograft model, and in combination with cisplatin dosed weekly leads to enhanced antitumor effects compared to cisplatin alone. Administration of CYT997 reportedly resulted in a time and concentration-dependent shutdown of tumor vasculature. Daily administration of CYT997 reportedly resulted in a sustained shutdown of tumour vasculature, increased necrosis and increased survival. :theflyonthewall.com

		YM BioSciences Inc. announced that the merger of Cytopia Limited, the Australian biopharmaceutical company, into YM under a Scheme of Arrangement, has been concluded. "With the completion of this transaction, our pipeline has been expanded to incorporate Cytopia's two lead clinical candidates, CYT387 and CYT997 and its impressive pre-clinical library," said David Allan, Chairman & CEO of YM BioSciences Inc. Under the terms of the merger transaction, YM has issued 7,276,688 YM shares to former Cytopia shareholders as consideration for all of the issued and outstanding Cytopia shares.
