09:02 EDTLMT, XLSExelis receives follow-up contract from Lockheed unit for $8.4M
Exelis (XLS) recently received a follow-on contract valued at $8.4M from Lockheed Martin's (LMT)Aeronautics company, Fort Worth, Texas, to supply Continuous Wave Illuminator subsystems for F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. The Exelis CWI subsystem is a transmitter that works with the F-16s fire control radar and mission computer to provide guidance for semi-active missiles. Using radio frequency energy, the system illuminates airborne targets to increase accuracy and ensure the missile finds its intended target. Exelis in Clifton, New Jersey, will perform the manufacturing work under this contract, with deliveries to be completed in FY17. The initial contract award, for $9.4M, was received in September 2012.

The U.S. Air Force has approved full rate production for Lockheed Martin's Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile Extended Range, orJASSM-ER, which successfully completed U.S. Air Force Initial Operational Test and Evaluation flight testing in 2013. During IOT&E, the program had a 95% success rate, scoring 20 successes in 21 flights. Lots 11 and 12 of the JASSM contract awarded in December 2013 included 100 ER missiles.

The U.S. Navy awarded Lockheed Martin a $235M contract to continue building MK 41 Vertical Launch Systems with options that, if exercised, would increase the value to $356M. Under this contract which extends through 2022, Lockheed Martin will produce the launch control units, various electrical boxes and the mechanical structure, and perform final assembly and test. The company is also under contract to conduct repairs, distribute, store and manage spare parts for the MK 41 system for the U.S. Navy.

Exelis has received an Air Force $6.3M contract award to provide AN/PLM-4 Radar Signal Simulators to test radar warning receivers on various aircraft. This award was a task order from a previously awarded indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract awarded to Exelis in July 2012. Production for this contract will be accomplished at the Exelis facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
