09:02 EDTXLS, LMTExelis receives follow-up contract from Lockheed unit for $8.4M
Exelis (XLS) recently received a follow-on contract valued at $8.4M from Lockheed Martin's (LMT)Aeronautics company, Fort Worth, Texas, to supply Continuous Wave Illuminator subsystems for F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. The Exelis CWI subsystem is a transmitter that works with the F-16ís fire control radar and mission computer to provide guidance for semi-active missiles. Using radio frequency energy, the system illuminates airborne targets to increase accuracy and ensure the missile finds its intended target. Exelis in Clifton, New Jersey, will perform the manufacturing work under this contract, with deliveries to be completed in FY17. The initial contract award, for $9.4M, was received in September 2012.

Lockheed Martin Corp., Marietta, Georgia, has been awarded a $413,158,693 definitization to previously awarded undefinitized contract FA8625-11-C-6597. The contract is for advance procurement funding action and subsuming the advance procurement effort into full production efforts for the purchase of one HC-130J aircraft and six MC-130J aircraft. Work will be performed at Marietta, Georgia, and is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2015. Fiscal 2012 and 2013 aircraft procurement funds in the amount of $413,158,693 are being obligated at the time of award. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.
