Brean Capital raised its price target on Warren Resources to $8 from $6 following its acquisition of Citrus Energy's Marcellus assets. The firm said the acreage is highly productive and the increase in share count from the deal is small. Brean keeps its Buy rating on Warren Resources.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his administration will block hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, for natural gas in the state when an existing five-year moratorium pushed by the state Department of Environmental Conservation ends next year, reported The New York Times. The Marcellus shale formation spans New York, parts of Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, western Maryland, most of West Virginia and into extreme western Virginia.
