WPP (WPPGY) successfully focused on winning clients and nabbing talent from its two biggest rivals, Omnicom Group (OMC) and Publicis Groupe (PUBGY), during the 10 months in which they negotiated over their merger that ultimately failed, and WPP CEO Martin Sorrell is hoping his firm can benefit even further in the aftermath, reported The Wall Street Journal. Bell Media, part of BCE (BCE), announced from MIPCOM a multi-faceted partnership with United Artists Media Group, a newly formed joint venture among MGM (MGM), Mark Burnett, Roma Downey, and Hearst Entertainment, and Omnicom Canada's (OMC) Highway Entertainment to create new television formats for Canadian and international audiences. As a result of the partnership, pilots for several new formats are currently in development and pre-production at Bell Media, parent company of conventional broadcaster CTV. Terms of the deal were not released.
