W. P. Carey announced 2012 investment volume, financing and leasing activities for its owned and managed portfolios. Investments totaled approximately $1.4B in 2012, comprised of approximately $152M for W. P. Carey's owned portfolio and $1.2B for the publicly-held, non-traded REITs that it manages. Owned Portfolio Investments W. P. Carey's completed acquisitions totaled approximately $152M, including the remaining interest in an existing portfolio of 12 Marriott Hotels and five Walgreens retail stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.Financing Activity Financings by W. P. Carey consisted primarily of refinancings of its existing portfolio holdings totaling more than $75M, including refinancings by CPA:15 prior to its merger with W. P. Carey. Another achievement has been the growth of the company's assets under ownership and management, which are now approximately $14.1B in total, versus $5B ten years ago.

W. P. Carey (WPC) has acquired a portfolio of six Courtyard by Marriott hotels for approximately $52M. The portfolio is triple-net leased to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marriott (MAR). The portfolio of six properties has shown strong operating performance in recent years, including growth in average daily rate, occupancy and revenue per available room, and has generated consistent operating margins and substantial rent coverage. The portfolio is triple-net leased with a remaining term of approximately 11 years and includes fixed rent escalations.
