06:02 EDTWMTWal-Mart names Greg Foran as president and CEO of Walmart Asia
Wal-Mart Stores announced a series of promotions in the company's Asia region. Scott Price, currently president and CEO of Walmart Asia, will move to a senior management role as executive vice president, international strategy and development, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, integration and purchase leverage, based at Walmart's world headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas. Greg Foran, currently president and CEO of Walmart China, has been named president and CEO, Walmart Asia, and will be based in the company's Asia regional office in Hong Kong. Sean Clarke, Walmart China's current chief operating officer, has been named president and CEO of Walmart China. The changes are effective June 1.

CurrentC, the mobile payment application funded by Wal-Mart (WMT), Target (TGT), Best Buy (BBY) and others, will see an early trial run next month, Bloomberg reported earlier, citing three people familiar with the situation. A spokesperson for Lowe's (LOW) said the consortium behind the app expects an official launch in Q3, and Bloomberg noted that CurrentC will compete with more "established" offerings such as Apple's (AAPL) Apple Pay and Google's (GOOG) Android Pay.
