Whirlpool plans to expand its capacity at its Greenville, Ohio plant than makes KitchenAid mixers by more than 75%, reports the Wall Street Journal. The company will spend $40M to expand the plan to 460,000 square feet to keep up with the growing demand. Employment at the plant is expected to rise to about 1,400 in 2018 from 1,000 now. Whirlpool Corporation is building on the company's 40 years of commitment to sustainability by using wind energy to power its manufacturing facility located in Findlay, Ohio. Feasibility studies were conducted to ensure responsible siting by assessing any potential impacts of turbine installation, including sound propagation and environmental impact. Construction is scheduled to begin in the Spring and the turbines are expected to be operational beginning in late 2015.
