06:23 EDTWFTWeatherford CEO: Restructuring will help when oil goes back up, WSJ says
Weatherford CEO Bernard Duroc-Danner defended his company's recent restructuring, which included slashing 40% of its global workforce amid the plunge in oil prices, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing an interview with Duroc-Danner. The chief executive said that while certain cuts followed a decline in business as a result of oil prices dropping to below $50, there was also a motivation to cut costs by shedding parts of management within the company, the report says. "We are looking to make every single function at Weatherford perennially efficient," Duroc-Danner said. "If we can change our cost structure perennially then this will help us when the oil price goes back up." Reference Link
