10:28 EDTWFMWhole Foods advance attributed to investor stake speculation
Shares of Whole Foods (WFM) jumped in early trading and remain up $2.20, or 5.8%, at $40.15 in morning trading, with the strength attributed to speculation that a large investor may have taken a stake in the company, according to contacts. Carl Icahn is being speculated as the investor that may have taken a stake in the natural foods grocer, though that is unconfirmed. The Fly's options specialist noted that July weekly 39 and 39.5 calls are active on total call volume of 21K contracts amid the speculation.
