Earlier today , Energous Corporation announced it has signed a joint development agreement, JDA, with Dong-Hwa, one of the world's largest mobile equipment suppliers, to embed WattUp wire-free charging receivers in mass-produced Dong-Hwa smartphone cases. The deal will make it possible for millions of consumers worldwide to cut the last remaining cord between their handsets and a truly mobile lifestyle. Shares of Energous Corporation are up over 9% to $11.65 in morning trading.

Roth Capital analyst William Gibson says the resignation of Chief Commercial Officer George Holmes is unlikely to interrupt Energous' advance towards commercialization for its proprietary wire free charging technology. Gibson views the parting as amicable, and points out Holmes is a self-described serial entrepreneur, preferring to work companies at their earliest stages. The analyst keeps a Buy rating on Energous with a $15 price target.

Energous is working on creating WattUp, a wireless charging system that could power or charge up to 15 devices when they are within range, reports USA Today. Energous is looking to have WattUp embedded in smartphones and toys as soon as next year, the paper adds. Reference Link
