A probe by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights has determined Walgreen has the necessary safeguards in place to protect sensitive patient information at a new type of store format, the Wall Street Journal reports. The agency was unable to substantiate allegations from a consumer advocacy group that the new store formats, which encourage pharmacists to get out from behind the counter, lacked appropriate safeguards to prevent the disclosure of confidential patient health information.
