The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has ruled that the Volvo Group should pay penalties and interest of approximately SEK 508M following a dispute between the Volvo Group and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, regarding emission compliance of diesel engines. The Court of Appeals affirmed a District Courtís ruling that model year 2005 Volvo Penta engines violated the provisions of a Consent Decree. This is expected to have a negative impact on the Groupís operating income of approximately SEK 440M in Q314 in the segment Group functions and other. The Volvo Group had previously accounted for approximately SEK 68M as a provision and approximately SEK 422M as a contingent liability.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, is mulling an order that would expand that recalls of Takata (TKTDY) air bags and has contacted seven manufacturers who may be affected, including Volkswagen (VLKAY) and Tesla (TSLA), Bloomberg reports. Takata had identified seven companies that it has supplied with air bag inflators that use ammonium nitrate propellant, the report says, citing NHTSA letters dated September 22. The NHTSA also contacted Mercedes-Benz (DDAIF), Jaguar Land Rover (TTM), Suzuki (SZKMF), Volvo Trucks (VOLVY), and Spartan Motors (SPAR), the report says. Reference Link
