News Breaks January 24, 2013 07:54 EDT VOD, VZ Vodafone troubles seen benefiting Verizon with wireless deal, Bloomberg reports Verizon Communications (VZ) may now be in its strongest position to take full control of Verizon Wireless from its Vodafone Group (VOD) venture partner, reports Bloomberg. While Verizon Communications shares have gained 22% in the last two years, Vodafone’s stock dropped 7.8% in U.S. dollar terms due to a long period of sales declines, increased competition in Europe, and an economic slowdown. That helped push Verizon's market value higher than Vodafone’s in December for the first time in a decade, according to Bloomberg data.
