Volkswagen is close to deciding on whether to make a new sport-utility vehicle for its mass-market brands Skoda and Seat at a plant in the Czech Republic or Spain, according to Reuters, citing comments from a Skoda union leader in Czech newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes. The Skoda union official said no decision had been made but they are planning to meet with VW CEO Martin Winterkorn on Friday. Reference Link

China announced yesterday that new energy cars would be exempt from a 10% sales tax starting in September, according to Xinhua. The tax will not have to be paid by buyers of qualified pure electric cars, plug-in hybrid electric cars and fuel cell cars from September 1, 2014 until the end of 2017, the news service quoted the Chinese government as saying.
