Telefonica (TEF) has added to its bid for Vivendi's (VIVHY) Brazilian broadband telecoms business, GVT, by offering Vivendi a television content-sharing deal, says Reuters. The content-sharing deal offered by Telefonica brings its total offer to approximately $9.4B which is in-line with what Telecom Italia (TI) may counter bid for GVT, added Reuters. Reference Link

Telecom Italia (TI) CEO Marco Emilio Patuano told Valor Economico that TIM Participaçoes (TSU) can remain competitive in Brazil for five years without losing market share and that it is not in a rush for potential mergers and acquisitions, reported Reuters. TIM Brasil reportedly hired an advisor to look at a potential bid for Oi (OIBR), a source told Reuters previously, and Oi itself has hired a bank as well to advise it on a possible bid for Telecom Italia's 67% stake in TIM Brasil, the report noted, but Patuano told Valor: "I find it curious to see public comments [on a potential Oi bid for TIM] well before there is any concrete possibility of such a thing happening. Telecom Italia is not seeking an offer." Reference Link

TIM Participacoes (TSU) appointed the investment banking division of Banco Bradesco (BBD) to review a possible offer for competitor Grupo Oi (OIBR), according to Reuters, citing a source with knowledge of the situation. The source said that Telecom Italia (TI) would use TIM as a means to incorporate all or only a portion of Oi's assets in a potential agreement. Telecom Italia is the controlling stakeholder of TIM.
