08:32 EDTVGVonage granted three new patents in the U.S.
Vonage Holdings announced that it was granted three new patents in December by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. U.S. Pat. No. 8,600,364, "Systems and Methods for Terminating Telephony Communications to Mobile Telephony Devices," issued December 3, relates to a system that automatically activates a call forwarding feature based on the customer's location, enabling low-cost incoming calls on mobile phones while traveling internationally. U.S. Pat. No. 8,605,682, "Systems and Methods for Handoff of a Mobile Telephone Call in a VoIP Environment," issued today, provides a solution for avoiding the disconnection of a voice-over-IP call when the mobile user moves between coverage areas of different wireless networks. U.S. Pat. No. 8,606,246, "Systems and Methods for Providing Telephony Services," also issued today, enables a customer to conveniently purchase a telephone service plan through a third-party merchant such as the Apple App Store and Google Play, without having to enter into a separate financial transaction with the services provider itself.
