12:01 EDTUTXUTC Aerospace Systems, AVIC EM open electric system JV facility
UTC Aerospace Systems and AVIC Electromechanical Company Limited announced the opening of their joint venture facility: Xi'an AVIC Hamilton Sundstrand Aviation Electric Co., located within the Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone. The joint venture was formed to develop and manufacture the electric power system for the new C919 jetliner, built by Commercial Aviation Corporation of China. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies and AVIC EM is a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China. AUAE is a 50-50 joint venture established by UTC Aerospace Systems' Hamilton Sundstrand Holdings, Inc. and AVIC EM's subsidiary Shaanxi Aero Electric Co., Ltd. to develop and manufacture electric power systems for COMAC's C919 as well as supply UTC Aerospace Systems equipment for the international market.

UTC Aerospace Systems has been selected by Qatar Airways to supply the wheels and carbon brakes for its fleet of 43 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The company will provide the equipment through its Landing Systems facility in Troy, Ohio. Qatar Airways took delivery of their first A350-900 aircraft in December 2014.

Otis has entered into a multimillion-dollar agreement with related companies to supply elevator and escalator units for the new Hudson Yards development in Manhattan's West Side. As part of its contract, the world's largest manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products will provide 73 units for 30 Hudson Yards, a 92-story, 2.6 million-square-foot tower that will be among the first to be constructed at the site. Founded by the inventor of the safety elevator, Otis is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies.
