06:02 EDTBAC, UBSDetroit bond insurer against new swaps deal with BofA, Bloomberg reports
Detroit shouldn’t be allowed to pay $165M to UBS (UBS) and Bank of America (BAC) under a renegotiated deal to end interest-rate swaps because the new agreement is still too costly, says Ambac Assurance Corp., reports Bloomberg. The city could instead sue the banks and, should they win, pay nothing or even collect damages for previous payments related to the swaps, Ambac said in a filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit.
