United Continental authorized a $1B share repurchase program, which the company expects to complete within the next three years. This amount represents approximately 6% of the company's market capitalization as of yesterday's closing stock price. Additionally, in Q2, the company spent $62M to retire convertible debt that would have converted into approximately 1.5M shares of UAL common stock.

Reports Q2 revenue $10.3B, consensus $10.31B. United's consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile increased 3.7% in Q2. Consolidated passenger revenue increased 3.6% to $9B. Ancillary revenue per passenger in Q2 increased 7.9% year-over-year to more than $21 per passenger. Q2 cargo revenue decreased 1.7%. Consolidated revenue passenger miles increased 0.6% and consolidated available seat miles decreased 0.1% year-over-year, resulting in a Q2 consolidated load factor of 85.3%.

The FAA has lifted its restrictions on U.S. airline flights into and out of Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport by cancelling a Notice to Airmen it renewed yesterday. The cancellation is effective at approximately 11:45 p.m. EDT. Before making this decision, the FAA worked with its U.S. government counterparts to assess the security situation in Israel and carefully reviewed both significant new information and measures the Government of Israel is taking to mitigate potential risks to civil aviation. The FAA’s primary mission and interest are the protection of people traveling on U.S. airlines. The agency will continue to closely monitor the very fluid situation around Ben Gurion Airport and will take additional actions, as necessary.
