18:03 EDTTAT&T to record $10B charge in Q4, sees near-term pressure on EPS
AT&T (T) disclosed in a regulatory filing that it expects to record a pre-tax charge of approximately $10B in Q4, primarily related to pension and post-employment benefits. Additionally, AT&T said Q4 smartphone sales were approximately 10.2M, but citing the high subsidies on these devices, the company sees near-term pressure on operating income, margins and EPS in Q4. The Street is currently looking for Q4 EPS of 47c on revenues of $32.14B, according to First Call. Shares of AT&T were down over 1% in after hours trading.

AT&T has also upgraded the former Alltel network in Georgia to combine the strength of Alltel's local coverage with AT&T's 4G LTE network.
