"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" led at the box office while setting a record as the biggest December opening of all time, reports the Wall Street Journal. The Time Warner (TWX) film earned $84.8M in North America, its first weekend in theaters, passing previous December record-holder, "I Am Legend," which earned $77.2M when it opened in 2007.Reference Link
