Democratic Senator Mark Warner questioned whether broadcast stations that pull their programming off the air should be able to keep using spectrum for free, The Hill reported yesterday. 10:42 EDTNFLXNetflix moves higher, levels to watch
The shares are moving against the broader sideways or down move in technology today, last at $244.10. It would appear that traders are intent on moving the shares back toward the $250 area. That area in the prior two-years was important support and then resistance. When the shares broke below that level in August 2011, it presaged a steep decline in share price. Retaking that level and holding it therefore might encourage more bullishness for higher price. A failure to do so could potentially derail the current trend higher.

The Justice Department is alleging that Apple (AAPL) was "the ringmaster" in an e-book price fixing scheme, according to The New York Times, citing a lawsuit filed by the agency. 10:48 EDTCVCCablevision CFO says no plan to cut dividend
Cablevision CFO Gregg Seibert said on the company's first quarter earnings conference call that the company's board shows "complete support" for continuing Cablevision's dividend at its current level. Seibert said the company pays about $40M a quarter in the form of a dividend and that the company "certainly did not earn that in the first quarter on a free cash flow basis." Seibert acknowledged going forward it's not clear the company will consistently earn that over the next few quarters, but from a liquidity standpoint the company's proceeds from its Bresnan transaction "should be in the neighborhood of $625M plus whatever working capital and cash is in the company at the time of closing." That liquidity and other sources gives the board "comfort" in regard to maintaining the dividend, according to the executive.
