The city of Los Angeles has sued Time Warner Cable for $10M, alleging the company owes franchise fees over four years through 2011, reports the Los Angeles Times. In the lawsuit, the city contends that Time Warner Cable "blatantly refused to live up to its obligations to the city" to pay franchise fees to operate its cable network over city-owned rights of way while collecting more than $500 million a year from customers in the city. John Malone, the chairman of Liberty Media (LMCA), said Charter Communications (CHTR) would look to buy Time Warner Cable (TWC) if TWC's deal with Comcast (CMCSA) falls through, The Wall Street Journal reports.
