Shares of Chinese solar companies are rallying after one of the companies in the sector, Trina Solar (TSL), announced a tentative deal with a local Chinese government. WHAT'S NEW: Trina Solar announced that it had signed a "framework agreement" with a local government in China to build solar power plants with combined capacity of one gigawatt. Before the deal can proceed, the local government must issue additional approvals and national regulators must also sign off on the agreement, Trina stated. The first two phases of the project, with installed capacity of 300 megawatts, are scheduled to be completed and connected to the grid by the end of 2014, the company added. PRICE ACTION: In early afternoon trading, Trina Solar climbed 6.6% to $14, Yingli Green (YGE) advanced 6.2% to $5.05, Canadian Solar (CSIQ) rose 4% to $30.40, JA Solar (JASO) gained 6.9% to $9.50, and JinkoSolar (JKS) added 3.8% to $30.30.

JinkoSolar announced that its 24MW solar PV power plant in Xinyi, Jiangsu Province and 15MW solar PV power plant in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province were successfully connected to the grid. The company has so far successfully connected to the grid for more than 252 MW of solar PV power projects. The 24MW Xinyi and 15MW Lianyungang power plants were granted blended 20-year subsidies of 1.125 RMB/KWh and 1.1 RMB/KWh, respectively, including subsidies from the local government.

11:23 EDTJASOJA Solar raises Q1 shipment view to exceed 620 MW
Earlier today, JA Solar announced preliminary results for its first quarter ended March 31. Based on preliminary financial information, JA Solar currently expects total shipment volume in the 1Q14 to exceed 620 MW, ahead of its previously announced guidance of 580 MW to 610 MW. The company also expects sequential gross margin improvement in 1Q14. Furthermore, the company reiterates its full year cell and module shipments guidance of between 2.7 GW and 2.9 GW, which includes 200 MW of module shipments to the company's downstream projects. "We are proud that solid execution in the quarter enabled us to exceed our previously issued guidance," said Baofang Jin, Chairman and CEO of JA Solar. Shares of JA Solar are trading higher by 7.5% to $10.01 in morning trading.
