07:45 EDTTMUS, DTEGY, ST-Mobile, Sprint deal could come 'sooner than later,' says JPMorgan
After meeting last week with Sprint (S) CFO Joe Euteneuer, T-Mobile (TMUS) CFO Braxton Carter and Deutsche Telekom (DTEGY) CEO Tim Hottges, JPMorgan believes a Sprint and T-Mobile deal could come "sooner than later." The firm thinks Deutsche Telekom, the majority owner of T-Mobile, is more open to a deal as long as TMobile is the surviving brand and management. JPMorgan believes such a merger would be initially blocked by the Department of Justice, and estimates the likelihood of successful litigation around 50%. The firm models a $42 per share bid for T-Mobile. Shares of the company closed yesterday up 8c to $34.40.
