Sears announced that it has commenced a tender offer to purchase for cash up to $1B principal amount of its outstanding 6 5/8% Senior Secured Notes Due 2018. The aggregate principal amount of Notes currently outstanding is $1.238B. The terms and conditions of the Offer are set forth in an Offer to Purchase and related Letter of Transmittal, each dated August 3. Holders of Notes are urged to read the Offer to Purchase and Letter of Transmittal carefully before making any decision with respect to the Offer. The Offer is scheduled to expire at 11:59 p.m., New York City time, on August 28. Jefferies is serving as Dealer Manager for the Offer.

Federal regulators have vowed to continue a crackdown on auto makers when discovering "significant" safety lapses, the Wall Street Journal reports. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said Monday that he was "encouraged" by conversations with car companies about safety problems, the report says. Publicly traded companies in the space include Fiat Chrysler (FCAU), Ford (F), General Motors (GM), Honda (HMC), Nissan (NSANY), Toyota (TM) and Volkswagen (VLKAY). Reference Link

Toyota's Scion brand aims to double its U.S. vehicle sales to more than 100,000 by 2017, reports Reuters, citing statements from Scion chief Doug Murtha. CurrentC, the mobile payment application funded by Wal-Mart (WMT), Target (TGT), Best Buy (BBY) and others, will see an early trial run next month, Bloomberg reported earlier, citing three people familiar with the situation. A spokesperson for Lowe's (LOW) said the consortium behind the app expects an official launch in Q3, and Bloomberg noted that CurrentC will compete with more "established" offerings such as Apple's (AAPL) Apple Pay and Google's (GOOG) Android Pay.
