With the sale of cars in the U.S. expected to hit a seven year high this year, demand for car parts by Toyota Motor (TM) and GM (GM) is helping to increase air shipments from the world’s largest parts makers, reports Bloomberg. Toyota announced global hybrid sales surpassed the 7M unit mark in September. Toyota achieved this latest million-unit hybrid milestone at the record pace of nine months. Including hybrid vehicles launched this year, Toyota will introduce at total of 15 new hybrids globally through 2015. Hybrids launched this year comprise the Lexus Voxy Hybrid and Noah Hybrid in Japan only, and the Lexus NX 300h. This month Toyota will introduce the Lexus RC 300h. Toyota plans to continue expanding its hybrid lineup and increase the number of countries and regions where it sells hybrid vehicles.

General Motors is recalling 10,005 model year 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V vehicles manufactured October 6, 2003, to March 15, 2007, and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V vehicles manufactured June 23, 2005, to March 15, 2007. In the affected vehicles, the electrical terminals of the fuel pump module may overheat resulting in the melting of the flange material. If the flange melts, a hole may be created allowing the fuel pump to leak fuel, causing the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
