Stocks are set to end the week higher after the Fed said it would reduce its asset purchases in January, also indicating that it would keep interest rates low for an extended period. MACRO NEWS: The Fed announced that it would reduce its asset purchases by $10B per month starting in January. But the central bank added that it now expects to maintain the current 0%-0.25% target range for its benchmark interest rate "well past" the time when the unemployment rate falls below 6.5%... The government announced that U.S. GDP had grown 4.1% last quarter, up from its previous estimate of a 3.6% increase. The index of leading economic indicators also beat expectations, although the government reported that more people than expected filed jobless claims last week... Manufacturing activity in the euro zone this month grew at the fastest pace since May 2011, a preliminary purchasing managers' index indicated. COMPANY NEWS: Target (TGT) acknowledged that the card data of about 40 million people who had shopped at its stores had been stolen.. Satellite TV provider DISH (DISH) is weighing a bid for T-Mobile (TMUS), Reuters reported... BlackBerry (BBRY) reported weaker than expected results today but the stock jumped after the company announced a strategic partnership with manufacturing giant Foxconn and said it would "love" to bring BlackBerry to Android and iOS users... Chip maker Micron (MU) fell after Bloomberg reported that one of the company's competitors plans to build a new factory in South Korea... Dow members Boeing (BA) and 3M (MMM) both increased their dividends substantially, and shares of both companies advanced following their announcements.

Boeing (BA) announced that Air Canada (AIDIF) has signed an agreement to implement the Boeing Maintenance Performance Toolbox to support maintenance operations for its 767, 777, 787 and 737 MAX airplane fleets. The Maintenance Performance Toolbox suite delivers access to information that technicians need to resolve airplane maintenance issues. As part of the Toolbox deployment project, Boeing will also provide services for transition and migration of customized data from maintenance management applications currently used by Air Canada, and will enable integration with existing maintenance resource planning systems.
