05:14 EDTTASRTASER announces tender for EVIDENCE.com, 500 AXON body-worn cameras for MPS
EVIDENCE.com, a business unit of TASER International, was selected for up to a 500 unit AXON body-worn video camera proof of concept pilot by the Mayor's Office of Policing and Crime, or MOPAC, for the Metropolitan Police Service, or MPS, through its UK distributor Tactical Safety Responses. The tender included both AXONbody cameras and EVIDENCE.com as the backend data management system as part of an evaluation being conducted by the MPS. The one-year pilot, which is set to roll out soon, is for the concept of body-worn video, or BWV, under the College of Policing academic rigour, and is the largest known urban pilot of BWV cameras. It will be rolled out across nine London boroughs and up to 500 AXON cameras will be deployed.

Data released by San Diego's Police Department showed significant reductions in complaints, allegations, and use of force after the department's deployment of TASER body cameras, said Craig-Hallum, which noted this as the first example of the benefits of body cameras from a "major" police force test. The firm thinks the study could have "significant" implications for other police forces testing and considering body cameras and reiterates its Buy rating and $30 price target on TASER shares.
