| theflyonthewall.com: | Molson Coors sees softness in global beer market | | Molson Coors (TAP) reported better-than-expected EPS and revenue figures for Q3. The company attributed their positive earnings to cost cuts, a sharply lower tax rate, and a derivative gain. The company was pleased with its performance in Q3 and stated that the innovation pipeline is full for brand re-investment in FY10. Molson Coors has also seen "encouraging sales trends" in two of its larger markets in Ontario. Despite the positive performance, global sales volumes dropped, and the company expects the beer market to remain soft. The company noted that consumers have become much more selective in their beer purchases which will lead to modest margin pressure in Q4. The company reported softness in October sales, but doesn’t feel that it is indicative of a trend for overall Q4 volumes. These comments made on Molson Coors Q3 Investor Relations Session. :theflyonthewall.com |
