Brazil's TAM Airlines (TAM) is sliding ahead of an auction for its shares scheduled to be held tomorrow morning at 9 am ET. The auction is part of the process of a merger between TAM and Chilean airlines LAN (LFL). The auction comes after an exchange offer for TAM's shares was launched on May 10. The exchange offer is slated to end today at 5 pm ET. In late morning trading, TAM slid $1.09, or 4.94%, to $20.97, while Lan added 11c to $25.52.

LATAM Airlines announced that, considering the impact of the current economic scenario in Brazil, it is adjusting its domestic network andreducing domestic capacity by approximately 8% to 10% by year-end. As a result, the company has revised its capacity growth for this year for the domestic market in Brazil from 0% growth to a contraction of 2 to 4% as compared to 2014. LATAM Airlines Group is reviewing its fleet plan and fleet requirements for the coming years, and is currently evaluating whether to postpone a number of widebody passenger aircraft currently scheduled for delivery in 2017 and 2018, as well as to sublease at least one freighter aircraft.

The Q2 total revenue decrease of 20.8% is a result of a 21.8% decrease in passenger revenues and a 21.3% decrease in cargo revenues, partially offset by a 6.8% increase in other revenues. Passenger and cargo revenues accounted for 81.9% and 13.9% of total operating revenues, respectively, in Q2. Passenger revenues decreased 21.8%. Total passenger traffic increased by 1.2%, while passenger capacity increased by 2.0%. As a result, passenger load factor decreased 0.6 p.p. at 81.8%. Consolidated revenue per ASK decreased by 23.3%, vs. 2Q14, driven by a decrease of 22.8% in yields.
