The FDA is expected later today to announce a rule that, in many cases, could prevent manufacturers from selling artificial hips with all-metal components, according to The New York Times. The proposed rule would require makers of such devices to prove they are safe and effective before selling existing ones or obtaining approval to sell new ones, the newspaper reported. Companies currently only have to show that the devices they're selling are similar to existing products, the newspaper explained. Reference Link
