SunCoke Energy reported that fourth quarter U.S. coke production is expected to be approximately 1,082,000 tons, up an estimated 67,000 tons, or 6.6%, versus the same period in 2011. Full year 2012 U.S. coke production is projected to be more than 4.3M tons, an estimated increase of 580,000 tons, or 15.4%, versus prior year. The estimated increase for both periods was driven by the Middletown facility, which produced 153,000 tons and 602,000 tons in fourth quarter and full year 2012, respectively, versus 68,000 tons for both prior year periods.

08:05 EDTSXCSunCoke Energy sees Q1 domestic coke production of 944,000 tons
SunCoke Energy reported Q1 domestic coke production is expected to be 944,000 tons, down an estimated 108,000 tons versus the same prior year period. This year-over-year decline reflects approximately 64,000 tons of lower production at our Indiana Harbor facility due to the combined impact of severe winter weather and the significant refurbishment effort underway at this plant. The extreme winter weather, which impacted charge weights and yield, drove nearly 40,000 tons of lower production at our Haverhill and Granite City operations collectively. Domestic capacity utilization in Q1 is estimated to be 90%, as compared to 101% in the same prior year period.
