10:07 EDTSPX, SPYS&P 500 nears 2000 mark, levels to watch
The index is less than a point from hitting the 2000 level, something which the bullish camp has been pushing at for some time. A question now hanging in the air is whether or not this is just a number, or something more meaningful. We will soon find out if there are buy stops or sell stops on the other side of the mark. Would crossing 2000 clear the slow-motion hesitancy of the bull move with a big push higher? Or, does the rally come to a halt once the level has been touched? It appears we will find out soon enough. Support below is at 1996.37.
