10:20 EDTSPY, SPXS&P 500 hits fresh life high, levels to watch
The index has touched the 1970 level at time of writing. Although the momentum pace has slowed considerably in recent weeks, that hasn't kept the index from making marginal new life highs at a slower rate. There will no doubt be debate as to whether that relative momentum loss is an indication of a topping process, or an old fashioned bull market that never lets anyone in and continues to advance without full participation. At the current price of 1970.68, the next upside objectives become 1975 and 1980 as the index advances in steps of 5 points as it has now for nearly a year. It appears the bulls have their "2000" caps set and aren't likely to give up until they get the index there, barring something exogenous. Support is at 1962.29, the opening price for the session.
