14:55 EDTSPY, SPXS&P 500 holds near unchanged heading into the final hour of trading
The index is up fractionally on the day, but has not made progress on the upside. Part of the reason for that is that only two sectors are really in the green, Financials and Energy. The remaining sectors are fractionally lower or higher, but so close to unchanged that they are essentially a wash. Support is at 1539.79. Resistance at 1552.50, a prior pivot high, has yet to be approached in a meaningful way. There is an old traders' adage that levels are resolved by price or time. For the bulls, that time is coming to a potential end through a failure to advance. The key will be the payrolls data tomorrow morning before the open.
