11:34 EDTSPX, SPYS&P 500 reaches new multi-year high, slips lower, levels to watch
The index hit another new multi-year high before noon eastern time, and then slipped back. At time of writing the loss against the prior day is negligible, but the index is now below the psychologically important 1520 area. Traders as we noted yesterday had been talking about 1520 as an objective for months. At the current level of 1518.67, next support is at 1513.61. Resistance is at the high of the day and the new 52-week high of 1524.69. Sectors are mixed today, with Health Care in the red. The Financials, Consumer Staples, and Utilities are all near the flat line. Technology is slightly outperforming that group. Strength is in Consumer Discretionary, Industrials, Materials, and Energy.
