09:59 EDTSPY, SPXS&P 500 heads for the 1520 area, levels to watch
The index is up at a fresh multi-year high this morning, heading for the 1520 area. While not a particularly significant zone in technical terms, it is one that has been mentioned by bulls as an upside objective for months. It was also slightly more significant the first time 1500 was broken on the upside, which was back in 2000. A more important resistance level north of 1520 is at 1525.21. If the index can break out above that level, very little stands in the way to the old life high at 1576.09. Support is at 1514.96. All sectors are in the green with the exception of the Utilities. Energy, Technology, and Materials are the upside leaders.

12:01 EDTSPX, SPYS&P 500 hits fresh life high, levels to watch
The inevitable grind higher in the index continues, hitting a new record at 1989.23. It does seem that barring a major negative surprise that the push for 2000 will continue until reached. On an intraday basis there is a bullish flag of sorts that could see a push to 1994 to 1996 today. A move below 1987 would break the pattern. Support is at 1985.32, the opening price.
