11:14 EDTSPY, SPXS&P 500 nears highs of session as we head to mid-day, levels to watch
The index is near the highs of the session as mid-day approaches on the east coast. At the current level of 1440.03, the index has ticked a new important high. The next big barrier for the index is the psychologically important 1450 level. A move to and above that level would likely be very bullish. There is only one sector trading in the red this morning, which is Consumer Staples. As has become typical in "risk on" trading days, so-called safety sectors are underperforming. Health Care is green, but a relative laggard. Energy, Materials, and the Financials are upside leaders. Support is at 1438.59, the peak in price from last week.
