Synopsys (SNPS) announced advancements in its longstanding verification collaboration with Freescale Semiconductor (FSL). With a focus on addressing the increasing complexities of system-on-chip (SoC) verification, Freescale teams are leveraging Synopsys' innovations in next-generation verification IP (VIP), simulation performance, debug technology and methodology development. This collaboration is targeted to achieve better schedule predictability and lower overall verification costs for Freescale's complex SoCs.

The 13% rally in shares of Freescale (FSL) is being attributed to an Austin Business Journal report of the company being built into Tesla's (TSLA) Model S. The Austin Business Journal story references an October 14 story by Arik Hesseldahl of Re/code detailing research firm IHS' teardown of the electric car. Hesseldahl said the chipmakers whose components were spotted in the teardown include NVIDIA (NVDA), Freescale, Texas Instruments (TXN), Qualcomm (QCOM), STMicroelectronics (STM) and Altera (ALTR).
