Taiwan touch panel makers are seeing increased orders from handset makers such as Sony (SNE) Mobile, Nokia (NOK), Google (GOOG), Asustek, Acer and Oppo, reports DigiTimes. According to industry sources, the order visibility is expected to remain strong throughout Q3 and some makers are even unable to meet the demand due to the surge. Reference Link

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit that patents claims asserted by I/P Engine, a unit of Vringo (VRNG), are invalid for obviousness and reversed a lower court's ruling in the company's favor. The patents were asserted in a suit against Google (GOOG) and Aol (AOL), IAC Interactive (IACI) and Gannett (GCI). Vringo shares dropped nearly 11% following the posting of the appeal court ruling. Baird said Amazon's (AMZN) launch of the "Local Register" payment and card reader system is not a surprise after the company's acquisition of assets from GoPago and that the move is complementary to Amazon's e-commerce platform. Baird said Amazon's system will compete with Square and eBay's (EBAY) payment product "Here" and added that it expects Google (GOOG) and Apple (AAPL) to expand their existing payment initiatives. The firm maintains its Outperform rating and $400 price target on Amazon.com.
