Sun Bancorp (SNBC) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Sun National Bank, have agreed to hire Thomas M. O'Brien as CEO, subject to prior receipt of regulatory non-objection from the Federal Reserve Board and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Mr. O'Brien will serve as a consultant to the Board of Directors of the Bank and will not assume CEO duties until such regulatory non-objections are received. Sidney R. Brown, Chairman of the Board, will continue to serve as Interim CEO until the time Mr. O'Brien becomes an employee. Mr. O'Brien has served on the board of BankUnited (BKU) since May 2012.

For the quarters ended December 31, 2014 and 2013, the company recorded provisions for loan losses of $20.5M and $12.5M, respectively. Of these amounts, provisions of $21.6M and $13.3M, respectively, related to new loans, and recoveries of $(1.0M) and $(0.8M), respectively, related to covered loans. Book value and tangible book value per common share grew to $20.19 and $19.52, respectively, at December 31, 2014.
