As part of its global manufacturing strategy, the company has been working to develop manufacturing centers of excellence in order to drive improved productivity and efficiency. The company's strategy includes reviewing operating costs, capacity, strategic location, proximity to other facilities, and technology levels. The Norderstedt facility has been part of its global strategic review and the decision was a result of that review. The changes would terminate bagmaking and printing operations in Norderstedt by June 30, 2010.
