Seadrill (SDRL), in cooperation with indigenous partner Field Offshore Design Engineering Nigeria Limited has secured a contract with Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, an ExxonMobil (XOM) subsidiary, for employment of the newbuild ultra-deepwater drillship West Saturn, in support of the ERHA North Phase 2 project in Nigeria. The contract is for a firm period of two years plus a one year option and has a total revenue potential for Seadrill and Field Offshore Design Engineering Nigeria Limited for the primary contract term of approximately $497M, inclusive of mobilization.

With the passing of King Abduallah in Saudi Arabia, and his successor, King Salman saying that the Kingdom's oil policy will continue as is, it is unlikely for the price of oil to rebound in the near term, contrary to what Secretary Abdalla El Badri said recently, the Wall Street Journal reports. Carl Larry, an analyst with research consultancy Oil Outlooks & Opinions, was quoted saying "people are starting to take anything coming out of OPEC with a big grain of salt,". North Atlantic Drilling (NADL) announces the launch of an amendment process whereby Seadrill Limited (SDRL) will provide a guarantee for the company's NOK 1.5B bond maturing in 2018, in exchange for some amendments to the bond covenant package, namely replacing the NADL's current financial covenants with Seadrill's financial covenants from Seadrill's NOK denominated bonds. Concurrent with the amendment process for the Bond Agreement, NADL has also launched an amendment process for its secured credit facilities whereby Seadrill Limited will provide a guarantee. Successful conclusion of this process will amend the terms of the loan agreements to align with the terms set forth in Seadrill Limited's loan agreements. "The company's lenders have been supportive thus far and we expect successful conclusion of this amendment in the weeks to come," the company stated. North Atlantic Drilling shares are up 19% in pre-market trading following the announcement.
