Three bidders are expected to make initial offers for RWE DEA, the oil and gas exploration and production unit of German utility RWE (RWEOY), sources say, reports Reuters. Bids are expected to be submitted by Wintershall, BASF's ( BASFY) oil and gas unit, Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman, and a consortium consisting of U.S. private equity firm KKR (KKR), and Kufpec, a part of Kuwait Petroleum, sources added.Reference Link

RWE said in a statement that "For the Closing of the sale of RWE Dea AG several consents from third parties are outstanding. The parties to the agreement have agreed, inter alia, that there should be a comfort letter by the Department of Energy and Climate Change of the United Kingdom. Currently, it is uncertain whether the Comfort Letter will be issued. The parties to the transaction continue to work towards a closing of the transaction."
