08:03 EDTRTNRaytheon awarded $123M Phalanx contract from Korean Navy
Raytheon signed a $123M contract to deliver nine Phalanx Block 1B Close-In Weapon Systems to the Republic of Korea Navy. Under the direct commercial sale, the largest ever for the Phalanx program, Raytheon will deliver the Phalanx systems for installation aboard the FFX Batch II frigate-class ships and AOE II-class fast combat support ships. Deliveries will begin in 2016 and are scheduled to be completed in 2022. The contract was signed during the fourth quarter 2013.

Raytheon Professional Services GmbH, or RPS, a subsidiary of Raytheon (RTN), has signed a long-term contract with Honda Motor Europe Limited (HMC) for the outsourcing of all development of their Pan-European dealer training, as well as domestic training delivery operations in the UK and Germany. As part of the contract, RPS will manage Pan-European curriculum content development, product launch training and Learning Management System administration and support. RPS' training services will cover Honda's complete product range including Cars, Motorcycles and Power Products, and will extend to all sales, aftersales, technical, and management personnel. The contract also includes the outsourcing and management of Honda's accredited apprenticeship program, across the whole product range, in the UK. Students will be able to achieve either an Intermediate or Advanced apprenticeship through the program.

German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported that Germany's defense ministry has decided to award a Lockheed Martin (LMT) led consortium one of the most expensive defense projects of the next decade by supposedly selecting its MEADS missile defense system over Raytheon's (RTN) next-generation Patriot system, though a U.S.-based source called the German report "absolutely incorrect," according to Reuters.
