Republic Services (RSG) announced that it has named Robert A. Maruster as EVP, COO. He will officially join Republic on June 9. Maruster is joining Republic from JetBlue Airways (JBLU) where he was the airline's EVP, COO, a position he assumed in 2009.

Republic Services announced that its board of directors has approved a 2c increase in the company's regular quarterly dividend. The quarterly dividend of 28c per share will be paid on Oct. 15 to stockholders of record on Oct. 1. The company said, "Our Board of Directors increased the quarterly dividend by approximately 8%, which is consistent with our historical practice."

CASM for the full year is expected to increase between 1.0% and 3.0% over full year 2013. Excluding fuel and profit sharing, CASM in 2014 is expected to increase between 2.5% and 4.5% year over year. Relative to JetBlue's previous cost outlook, this full year guidance reflects approximately a one point reduction in unit costs excluding fuel and profit sharing primarily due to a reduction of operating expenses in the second half of the year as a result of the sale of LiveTV. For the full year, capacity is expected to increase between 4.0% and 6.0%.

Reports Q2 revenue $1.49B, consensus $1.51B. Revenue passenger miles for Q2 increased 5.7% to 9.6B on a capacity increase of 6.0%, resulting in a second quarter load factor of 84.6%, a decrease of 0.3 points year over year. Yield per passenger mile in the second quarter was 14.25c, up 6.3% compared to the second quarter of 2013. Passenger revenue per available seat mile, or PRASM, for Q2 increased 6.0% year over year to 12.05c and operating revenue per available seat mile, or RASM, increased 5.6% year over year to 13.12c. The shift of the Easter and Passover holidays from March last year to April this year positively impacted second quarter year over year PRASM by approximately two points.

The FAA has lifted its restrictions on U.S. airline flights into and out of Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport by cancelling a Notice to Airmen it renewed yesterday. The cancellation is effective at approximately 11:45 p.m. EDT. Before making this decision, the FAA worked with its U.S. government counterparts to assess the security situation in Israel and carefully reviewed both significant new information and measures the Government of Israel is taking to mitigate potential risks to civil aviation. The FAA’s primary mission and interest are the protection of people traveling on U.S. airlines. The agency will continue to closely monitor the very fluid situation around Ben Gurion Airport and will take additional actions, as necessary.
