20:52 EDTRIGTransocean updates deepwater drillship construction activity
As announced in late 2012, Transocean is also investing in four contract-backed, state-of-the-art, ultra-deepwater drillships which will provide additional revenue growth and a favorable return on the company's investment when they are delivered beginning in 2015. In addition, the company currently has two ultra-deepwater drillships and three high-specification jackups under construction and sees additional opportunities for similar, value-enhancing investments.

Transocean said that based on preliminary analysis, it currently anticipates achieving annualized savings associated with its initial phase of its cost reduction initiative of approximately $300M. The expected reduction in onshore costs includes, among other items, the consolidation of facilities, the streamlining of business functions and processes, as well as elimination of processes, programs and tasks that are not central to supporting our core business of operating our rigs safely and efficiently.
