Cinema owners could be a good investment, as 2012 provided an increase of 6% in domestic box-office receipts, to a record $10.8B. 2013 looks to be as promising and using Regal Entertainment Group (RGC), Cinemark Holdings (CNK), Carmike Cinemas (CKEC) and REIT EPR Properties (EPR), which leases to theater owners, to ride the box-office surge, reports Barron's. Empire Resorts (NYNY), through wholly-owned subsidiary Montreign Operating Company, in conjunction with its co-developer EPR Properties (EPR), announced that they presented their $1B entertainment project to the New York Gaming Facility Location Board, including plans for a resort casino located 90 miles from New York City in the Town of Thompson, Sullivan County. The company said it is able to commence construction of Montreign upon award of a gaming license without delay, adding that many permits and approvals are already secured for Adelaar, generally, and for Montreign, specifically, and additional permits and approvals are being actively processed.
